Christian Ekren is a Freelance Sound Designer in the Fargo-Moorhead metro area. He has been working professionally in technical theatre and event production for more than 5 years with an emphasis in sound reinforcement and multimedia integration with many area community, educational, and professional theatre companies.
His designs (RENT, 2015; HAIR, 2016 – West Fargo Summer Arts Intensive) have been recognized with regional awards from the Northern Boundary Section of the United States Institute for Theatre Technology (NBS-USITT) through their “Cover the Walls” design showcases. These recognitions included scholarships to two national USITT conferences which furthered his education in the art of sound design and the craft of audio engineering.
In 2017, Christian had the opportunity to attend the 70th Annual Edinburgh Fringe Festival in Scotland as both a Sound and Projection Designer with Sheyenne High School Theatre’s production of REELING through the American High School Theatre Festival (AHSTF).
Christian is a recent Summa Cum Laude graduate of North Dakota State University with a Bachelor of Science degree in Management Information Systems and minor in Computer Science. This degree complements his practical experience with its focus on business management and organization, as well as its diverse training in modern technologies.
